As part of teaching leadership skills, the AMAI feels it is important that our students learn how to give back and help those in need. We have selected St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as our sponsored charity, and it is our goal that ALL AMAI schools hold a St. Jude’s fundraiser each April. In 2013, we had one school raise $18,000 in a 1-day event. Imagine how much money could be raised to support this worthy charity if all our schools held a Martial Arts for St. Jude event. Along with the materials sent by St. Jude’s, the AMAI has put together a set of procedures that will help all our schools run their event. These procedures have been put together after holding years of successful St. Jude events and is included in the Marketing packet all AMAI schools recieve upon joining.
St. Jude is the leader in the fight against catastrophic childhood diseases such as leukemia, brain tumors and sickle cell disease. Through events like this Martial Arts for St. Jude, our schools will be supporting the St. Jude mission of finding cures and saving children from across the country and around the world.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Founded by late entertainer Danny Thomas and based in Memphis, Tennessee, St. Jude freely shares its discoveries with scientific and medical communities around the world. No family ever pays for treatments not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay. St. Jude is financially supported by ALSAC, its fund-raising organization, through events such as Martial Arts for St. Jude. For more information, please visit the http://www.stjude.org/.
